By Bev,

What did I do to prepare this week? The vegetable garden is completely planted – finally. On to working on the raspberry patch and flowers.solar on window

I also finally got my three 3.2 watt solar panels up and charging the deep cell battery. Now we will see if the battery I bought used will hold a charge.

I did find an older Coleman two burner camp stove on Craigslist and decided to try it for $15. It takes Coleman fuel and so far I got the burners to light, but can’t seem to keep them lit. The gentleman said it had been sitting for several years, so if anyone has any suggestions for me, please feel free to tutor me on this subject.  :-)

And although I have three compost piles and composted horse manure, I have always wanted to try one of those barrel composters. One of these costs about $30 to build and then there is the running around to get everything and an afternoon putting it together. I ran across this one at a rummage sale and talked the guy down to $30 so I bought it. What I have read is that they are supposed to make a beautiful compost, garden ready, in 30 days. So I will be experimenting with this and let you know how it works.

Coming up this week we have Randy sharing with us his food storage ideas, I will share more about my solar setup and what I have learned, gardening and more!

This site is all about YOU! The older prepper. SHARE!

Please email us at: scprepper at outlook dot com, checked a couple times a week by Rourke.

Or email me at my personal box: bcfossillady at gmail dot com, checked a couple times a day usually, when I’m not at my Mother’s. I can’t do it all by myself…

Okay Patriots, how did you prepare this week?

A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions.

The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.”
