What did I do to prepare this week? I spent a day researching baking soda as a preparedness item to create a simple list of baking soda uses. Well, I’ve got to tell you that baking soda is the prepper’s friend! And that started me onto a series of natural remedies posts that SCP will be featuring shortly and I am hoping that you will join in and share your own home remedies. And when we went to the store, I bought 4 boxes of baking soda to seal with my FoodSaver and put in my stores. And I created more can rotators and have decided that I have a LOT of canned goods! Some of these are not 3 months or even 6 months worth of supplies, at least the way we are currently using them.
Did you see the post yesterday on what happened to our precious Harold? PLEASE pray for Harold and his family! It seems when it rains it pours!
Janey shared this: “I don’t know where to share this but, I had to write. I hardly ever go to Facebook, but my daughter called me and told me to go to my niece’s page. She lives in WVa where the water is bad. She has posted a video of her using a lighter to catch the water from her faucet on fire. She has talked with her friend out side the “no drink” zone and half of her friends water also burns. She lives about 3 miles from the Ohio river. I think someone is in for a world of hurt.”
And John from Iowa shared with me why there is a shortage on 22 LR Ammo direct from the manufacturer:
I’ve noticed that some people are getting a little cranky on the comments. – please restrain yourself, “if you don’t have anything good to say don’t say anything at all” that’s a Minnesota motto, hence “Minnesota Nice”, we may think a lot but we don’t say it. So I did an updated post on Cabin Fever – actually, not something to laugh at especially this winter! It is a balmy 35 degrees today where I am, over 60 degrees warmer than last Sunday. But we are still firmly in the grip of Ol’ Man Winter with spring a long way off yet, although the garden catalogs are coming daily. I have created a little “creative loft” upstairs where I can read my seed catalogs, sew, make jewelry, and teach myself to paint as Santa brought me oil paints for Christmas. Post coming up for your contemplation.
And if that isn’t enough to break me out of the doldrums and unleash some creativity, I’ve joined in on the comments with Rourke’s A Survival Story, fleshing out Jed’s love interest – Monica. I had some fun and it got a little racy so I editted it back to GP. :-D But seriously, Rourke created this story with the help of MSO (Modernsurvivalonline.com) readers and I think we can fill this out a bit. Rourke shared that he is having a bout of “writer’s block” and this just might help jolt him out of it. As I said on Friday, we used to do this in creative writing classes in college. Are you open to helping Rourke with his story? Would you like to be a part of this story? Heck, join in in the comments! Pick a character and have fun! Just keep it at least R guys and gals! LOL I have a separate post on this today – check it out! I’m having loads of fun being 38 again, attractive, and Jed’s love interest!
This site is all about YOU! The older prepper. SHARE!
Please email us at: scprepper at outlook dot com, checked a couple times a week by Rourke.

Okay Patriots, how did you prepare this week?
“A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions.
The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.”
