A web-based community focused on a self-reliant, preparedness lifestyle.
Seasoned Citizen Prepper is a site devoted to the older prepper that believes in prudent, practical preparedness. Self-reliance, frugal living, and faith are the cornerstones of this site. Our goal is to facilitate sharing of knowledge among our subscribers in order to build a sense of community.
Rourke and I are working at re-envisioning this site to make it better for YOU! Personally, I have never liked the word prepper – I’m a homesteader. Homesteading is all about self-reliance, and being prepared is all about self-reliance. Note that I bolded it in our Mission Statement today.
I know this is Memorial Day weekend, but if you read this I would like you to share what you LIKE and what you DON’T LIKE about SCP. Are we serving your needs? What would you like to see more of? And consider, are YOU willing to share? That said…
What did I do to become more self-reliant this week? GREAT WEEK!!! I have finally figured out how to create a rainwater diverter to my rain barrels that I can take out in less than 30 seconds come winter for less than $7.00!!! I also figured out how to pull T-posts in 60 seconds with one hand and no bent posts!!! And thanks to Grammyprepper, I figured out how to get my toaster oven to bake (I baked a Rhubarb Crisp.) successfully indoors with just tea lights!!! THIS was a WOW week for me. :-D
We only have a 90 day growing season in Minnesota, so every moment is precious in spring. I have blisters on my palms, but I have expanded the food garden by another third. I am currently attempting to kill the grass with tarps and leftover steel siding from the barn. I’m hoping to put in several Three Sisters gardens yet this year and transplant a bunch of my strawberries to a more permanent bed. And I added another solar panel to my array and may have found an electrician who can do solar both on and off-grid – we’ll see…
The top article this week that you hit the like button on and shared was “Natural Remedies – Stinging Nettle”.
Coming up this week, composting in barrels – and I’m thinking about a new experiment there, in the raspberry patch, sharing about my rainwater diverters, T-post pulling and setting, tea light heated toaster oven and more!
This site is all about YOU! The older self-reliant individual. SHARE!
Please email us at: scprepper at outlook dot com, checked a couple times a week by Rourke.
Or email me at my personal box: bcfossillady at gmail dot com, checked a couple times a day usually, when I’m not at my Mother’s. I can’t do it all by myself…
Okay Patriots, how were you more self-reliant this week?
“A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions.
The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.”
