Prep’s this Week and “Off Topic”

This week has really been something else. I have really been watching what has been going on in Dallas with the Ebola infections and wondering what the end result will be. Overall I believe it will be contained and believe the media is creating a lot of panic – however this could be serious. If we should hear of another infection – in Chicago, then Denver, then Pittsburgh – I will really be worried.

Right now I think we need to stay calm and be smart. Keep the preps up and hope for the best. We also need to pay attention.

Besides my focus on the news I have worked on my preps in the area of communication. Picked up two more Baofeng hendheld HAM radio’s. I also contacted my local HAM club about attending an INTRO class beginning of November. Looking forward to that. Picked up a couple boxes of .22LR CCI Mini-Mags. A bit too expensive but I have them. I also added to the larder with additional canned goods – Bush’s Baked Beans and some Campbell soups.

Off Topic? Add whatever you would like to talk about.

– – Rourke

Mini-Farming – Self Sufficiency on 1/4 Acre is one of the most useful books I own. If you are interested in maximizing productivity on your land this book is packed full of great suggestions and information. Rourke

Amazon summaryMini Farming describes a holistic approach to small-area farming that will show you how to produce 85 percent of an average family’s food on just a quarter acre—and earn $10,000 in cash annually while spending less than half the time that an ordinary job would require. Even if you have never been a farmer or a gardener, this book covers everything you need to know to get started: buying and saving seeds, starting seedlings, establishing raised beds, soil fertility practices, composting, dealing with pest and disease problems, crop rotation, farm planning, and much more. Because self-sufficiency is the objective, subjects such as raising backyard chickens and home canning are also covered along with numerous methods for keeping costs down and production high. Materials, tools, and techniques are detailed with photographs, tables, diagrams, and illustrations.

Product Details:

Great value in a very handy and bright flashlight….

This Ultra Bright LED 1-pack has 500 lumens and features High Power LEDs and a sliding zoom which allows you to quickly zoom in and out by simply sliding the head forward and backwards.

A recent review:

“This flashlight is great. Bright, adjustable, compact, and battery efficient. I have yet to find a flashlight anywhere close to this price that comes close to this one.
I work offshore and this thing gets a lot of abuse. Thrown, dropped, used as a hammer, soaked in water, oil, and fuel and it just keeps on truckin.”
