This may be an unusual post. Over the past several weeks I have been doing a lot of thinking about life. Thinking of my parents who are no longer with us. Thinking of friends from the past, mistakes and regrets. Having a 15 and an 11 year old I have thought of “life lessons” to pass on to my kids.
Here are a few thoughts:
- “You will be disappointed.” – Life will be filled with disappointments BUT those disappointments will fall in between wonderful experiences and joyous times. Many of these times will be remembered for the rest of your life.
- “You can’t change the past and the future is indeterminate – all you have is the present.” – Live every day like it’s your last. Yeah – easier said than done. Point is you only live one life – do what makes you happy and appreciate the experiences you have.
- “Value your family and friends.” – Family is blood and friends are loyal. Value them.
- “Find yourself spiritually.” – There comes a point in many peoples lives they feel like something is missing. They feel incomplete somehow. They feel “not” whole. They know “something” else is out there but they are just not sure what it is. Discovering God is an incredible experience. Truly believing provides a sense of peace, of encouragement – of safety.
These are just a few thoughts.
How about you – any life lessons to share?
