Quote of the Day
“God has two dwellings; one in heaven,
and the other in a meek and thankful heart.”
By Bev Sandlin
For most of us, Thanksgiving is a big meal of turkey and dressing, fixings and pumpkin pie; family and football; a prelude to a busy holiday season and a time, for most American families, to over extend the budget. I could be wrong, but I think very few people take the time to truly give thanks for the bounty we have, or consider sharing it.
It was less than 150 years ago that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of “ Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens,” to be celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. It was 1863 and the Nation was engaged in a brutal, divisive civil war, but our President declared a day of thanksgiving and praise to our Lord.
I encourage you to take a moment out of this busy day and sit quietly, alone or holding hands with a loved one, and humbly give thanks to Our Lord for all we have—especially our freedom. Freedom won by so many lives given.
May your Thanksgiving be filled with family, friends, good food and a grateful heart.
A smile for you…
Sometime past we had a post of a “prepper gnome” and someone asked where they could be purchased. I tracked them down and found the creator.
