What follows is just one part of an ongoing survival fiction series written by John Rourke and has been published on Amazon. It is being made available here for free. A new entry is published every day. The story is written in a daily journal format.
July 25th The world crumbles….and I am happy?
M is no longer staying in the spare bedroom. Maybe I shouldn’t be writing something like that in this journal – but I am flat out happy. The world has literally crumbled around us, life has become immensely difficult – yet as I sit here under the stars trying to stay cool and lighting this journal with an LED headlamp – I am happy.
Spent part of the day with M shooting. We shot a couple of Ruger 10/22′s, a Smith & Wesson 22A, and worked our way up to my Stag M4. She liked them but found her favorite was a Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 .22LR. Being so similar to an AR-15 it is a great training tool. Glad I have lots of .22LR ammo.
I am so relieved that I had stocked up on the ammunition I did. Most of the patrol’s in the neighborhood only have a few hundred rounds of ammo for their guns – regardless of the type. I am sitting on cases of ammo for all my guns. I don’t know the exact count but thousands of rounds. I also have ammo and other supplies in the caches I have buried. I need to show M and Eric where they are located.
Need to go get some sleep.
