July 21st   Planes in the sky…….

Mark is weighing heavily on my mind. We were friends and due to my decision making he is dead. His wife is without a husband and his little girl without a father. I can’t believe this has happened. I have got to just keep going. People are depending on me. I can’t let up on helping get this neighborhood ready for what awaits us. M is trying to be supportive but I just want to be left alone.

I discussed M’s question about women patrolling with Ryan. He felt similar to me. I guess we are old fashioned. Bill got in on the conversation and we agreed that we needed the help and there was safety – and power – in numbers. I talked to M and told her that if she really wanted to get involved she could begin training tomorrow. I told her we would start with more shooting practice and then Ryan would assist with some additional training. She wasn’t really happy – more apprehensive than anything. She was so sure of herself and now that she got what she wanted she’s scared. Women…..

M asked about making soap and candles. I told her I was sure I had books and we could check it out tomorrow in daylight. I have probably another 25 bars of soap, 12 bottles of liquid soap, lots of shampoo and many, many candles. I think she is trying to find a hobby. Fine by me.

I’d like to make a hobby of gorging myself with  banana splits  about right now!!

For the first time since The Event (3 weeks) I saw planes. Looked like a combination of jet fighters and what may have been some kind of transport – maybe a C130. They were heading West. Discussion in the neighborhood was whether or not they were ours….or someone else’s. Where were they going? Who were they? What do they know? Questions asked and no answers.

Something else to think about while I am trying to get to sleep.
