A few random thoughts……..

A few things that have been on my mind…….

Gun Control – we here at SCP do not talk about firearms and politics much. When it comes to firearms – that will be changing. The fact is firearms should be an integral part of any preparedness system. Anyways – gun control is a topic that the lamestream media (what I call most news on television and most newspapers) has been putting a positive light on. The unfortunate events of Aurora and Connecticut have given tremendous motivation to those that wish to destroy the 2nd Amendment.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

I am so sick of hearing that what was meant by the above statement by the Founders was “limited to muskets”.  Of course… when it was written the “military” had muskets – and the founders believed that whatever the government had – the PEOPLE should also have. The 2nd Amendment was written to provide the ability for the PEOPLE to keep a government in check in case it got out of hand.

When a government tries to disarm the PEOPLE…I worry. The recent gun control measures in New York and other areas is ridiculous. A corrupt and tyrannical government reacts to take advantage of emotions from a tragedy by changing laws that would have done absolutely nothing to prevent the tragedy in the first place. That is politics and today’s government for you.

Economy – Regardless of what you may hear from the “lamestream” media (yup, there it is again) – the economy is NOT getting better. What we are seeing are bumps in a road that is on a definite downward slope with no end in site. Taxes are going up, Obamacare is costing companies (and people) more money, the Federal Reserve continues to devalue our currency, inflation is hitting our grocery stores, and every single month the number of jobs drops compared to the number of new people entering the workforce. Yes – I am well aware that this is not all happening just due to the last four years. Our government has let us down for a very long time.  I do not know how long it will take for our economy to collapse – but it is just a matter of time. 2 years? 5 years? 10 years?

There is still time to prepare. Likely you are already concerned and working on preps for “something” – otherwise you would not  be here. Keep putting back food. Same goes for water. Learn to garden. Learn to can. Store away medical supplies and get as healthy as possible. On meds? Try to stock up on those as well. Think about the many little, cheap things that if you ran out and could not go to the store and buy more – you would kick yourself for not stocking up in the first place. Batteries, flashlights, fuel, socks, boots, spices, duct tape, rope, etc – these are a few.

Atlas Shrugged – I have watched the movie Atlas Shrugged probably 15 times. This past weekend I watched it once again. I am not going to get into a huge synopsis of the story line – but here is a quick one:

The United States is in severe economic crisis. Petroleum has gotten too expensive to use to transport goods. Rail has once again become THE major method to move product across the United States.  With massive unemployment, a failing dollar, and a stock market trading below 4000 – the Corporations and Government work to increase their power by passing sweeping regulations over business. Those regulations choke the creative and entrepreneurial spirit by which this great country was founded and could be saved. During the story the greatest minds within industry disappear – and a question is asked throughout….”Who is John Galt?”

This is one of those movies that every time you watch it some detail is seen that you missed the 14 times you watched it previously.  Uncanny is the fact that many of the “ridiculous”  policies, laws, and regulations the government forces upon the country actually seem all too real if you are one who pays attention to what is really going on today.

I highly recommend it.

EAL’s and Commenters – I want to send out a special THANK YOU to everyone here at SCP who is contributing by writing (editors-at-large) and commenting. What a fantastic thing that is happening. I am seeing SCP evolving before my eyes into a community – not just a website. Fantastic content – there is something for everyone. Let’s keep it up! Oh – and do not forget Bev – our creative genius who does such a great job with editing, commenting, reminding me of things I forget – and writing herself. Thank you Bev!!

Well – there were a few things that have been on my mind lately.

How about you? Any thoughts?
